Hello Mystery Guest

Chris Thomas - American Bird Photography Menu

I visited America with my father in early May 2011 to participate in The Biggest Week in American Birding on the shore of Lake Erie in Ohio. It was my first birding trip to the US and as such I tried to pick up as many sights and sounds of American Birds as I could during my visit. I managed to photograph a total of 140 species and see almost 150 which was very pleasing indeed!

All of the pictures are up from Ohio, so feel free to browse through them at your leisure and give me any feedback you have. I'm pretty pleased with what we managed to accomplish in just 10 days and have certainly obtained many more good quality images than I'd hoped for!

We visited Texas in April 2012 and drove 3000 miles, visiting the Upper Texas Coast, working our way down south and heading back up the Rio Grande Valley and into the Hill Country before heading back to High Island! It was a fantastic experience with 266 species seen and many photographs taken!! Once all the pictures have been processed there will be over 300 US Species on the site but it's going to take quite some time!

My appetite has certainly been whetted when it comes to American birds after two trips now, so hopefully in future I'll be able to add to these pictures and bump up the number of species for the site. Arizona and California sound good but not for a while yet!!

IT'S ALL CHANGED!! The site has just undergone a major facelift (many late nights) so there may well be a few bugs in the look and feel. Please let me have any feedback on the new appearance and I'll try and rectify any issues when I can. Internet Explorer still does a few funny things (try to stop running it in Compatibility mode!) but hey, what's new?!!

Why don't you try out the British Bird Identification Quiz to test your identification skills of British Birds?!! Give it a go and let me know what you think!! If I get time I'll put together the British and American species into one mega quiz!!

I hope you enjoy browsing the bird pics. Obviously being a British birder I can only dream of seeing the many hundreds of American species but hopefully the pictures of the species I have seen can be enjoyed by one and all!!
