New pictures being added after a great trip to California and Arizona. US Species will rise to 430+!
Test yourself!! Try out the brand new American Bird Identification Quiz to test your identification skills of Birds from the USA?!! Give it a go and let me know of any bugs!!
I visited America with my father in early May 2011 to participate in The Biggest Week in American Birding on the shore of Lake Erie in Ohio. It was my first birding trip to the US and as such I tried to pick up as many sights and sounds of American Birds as I could during my visit. I managed to photograph a total of 140 species and see almost 150 which was very pleasing indeed!
We then visited Texas in April 2012 and drove 3000 miles, visiting the Upper Texas Coast, working our way down south and heading back up the Rio Grande Valley and into the Hill Country before heading back to High Island! It was a fantastic experience with 266 species seen and many photographs taken!! Finally all the pictures have been processed and resulted in 307 US Species photographed for the site! Not too bad out of personal a US life list of 315.
All of the pictures are up from Ohio & Texas, so feel free to browse through them at your leisure and give me any feedback you have. I'm pretty pleased with what we managed to accomplish in just 25 days American birding and have certainly obtained many more good quality images than I'd hoped for!
My appetite has certainly been whetted when it comes to American birds after two trips now, so amazingly I'll be able to add to these pictures in August 2013 with a trip to California and Arizona. We're hoping to bump up the number of species for the site to over 400. Once this trip is done I really can't see another one happening for a long time unless I win the lottery!!
IT'S ALL CHANGED!! The site has just undergone a major facelift (many late nights) so there may well be a few bugs in the look and feel. Please let me have any feedback on the new appearance and I'll try and rectify any issues when I can. Internet Explorer still does a few funny things (try to stop running it in Compatibility mode!) but hey, what's new?!!
Why don't you try out the British Bird Identification Quiz to test your identification skills of British Birds or just try the American Bird Identification Quiz?!! Give it a go and let me know what you think!! If and when I get some time I'll put together the British and American species into one mega quiz!!
I hope you enjoy browsing the bird pics. Obviously being a British birder I can only dream of seeing the many hundreds of American species but hopefully the pictures of the species I have seen can be enjoyed by one and all!!
